JDRF WALK for KALI

So I'll update you on our fun and crazy summer and the begining of school later.  But right now I want to share something that we think is really important with you.

Four years ago our little girl Kali was diagnosed with type 1, or juvenile, diabetes.  It was scary to see our 2 year old practically in a coma and very sick.  (even the nurses told my sister the nurse that kali scared the poop out of them)  She has been fairly healthy since then but just last week she went into DKA or Diabetic Ketoacidosis.  This is a scary complication that can happen anytime she even gets the sniffles.

  So after too many hours in the ER and Kali and I having a sleepover in pediatrics, we decided we needed to do something more.   We needed to take a greater part in the effort to finding a cure for this nasty disease.  Because who really likes to get poked every day.

So.... This year we are participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes.  We have created a team called Kali's Krusaders.  We are going to be warriors fighting to find a cure.  The walk takes place this Saturday, September 25 at Scera Park.

Fake Face

(a little note about my first post in forever: in an effort to give my cute cuz rach something to laugh at and brighten her day, I've decided to try and blog again)



Poor Carter and his allergic reactions to mosquito bites!!!

About 3 days ago Carter got a skeeto bite on his cheek. In the past he has swollen up to the point of looking like he had a fake ear and had been in a huge boxing match. After the first day the bite wasn't too big, so I thought we would be ok. OH, NO!! He got huge. Benadryl, ice packs and anti-inch meds just didn't do the trick.

His face was finally going down, when after playing outside he came over to me and I freaked. TWO new skeeto bites! Right on his face. So I gathered up the kids to hurry home from sis's house and fill him with benadryl, etc. As we were leaving Carter got his 'are you kidding me look' on his face and said:



"Oh no!! Now I'm gonna have a fake face! All because they (the mosquitos) love my sweet blood!"



Hopefully the regime will work and the new bites won't look too huge.



Stay tuned for some updates on Spring and Summer happenings. We have just been going, going, going since the begining of March and blogging (as you can see) is not at the top of my list of things to do.

Compliments

Carter is always coming up to me and saying: "Mom, I love you". I then respond that "I love you too". He then replies with, " I love you more and for infinity, that means forever and ever" mom: "I love you for infinity too." He always says this in his sweet, lispy voice that I love.

So up at the cabin over the 4th Carter comes up to me with his sweet little voice and our conversation is as follows:

C: Mom, you have a big bum.

M: (sarcastically, but like a 3 year old knows the difference) Gee, Carter thanks a lot!

C: You're welcome! ( In his sweetest voice and with his cutest smile)

Talk about make my day!!
